Amal Clooney

Amal Clooney was born in Beirut. Her name comes an'ml' and 'amal' Arabic which means "hope". Her family left Lebanon at the age of two, when it was in the middle of civil conflict in Lebanon before settling in Gerrards Cross Buckinghamshire. 10] Her father Ramzi Alamuddin, a Lebanese Druze from the Alam al-Din dynasty, a village in Baakline in the Chouf District,[11and received an MBA degree from the American University of Beirut. He returned in 1991 [12] to Lebanon following the civil war that had came to an end. Her mother, Baria (nee Miknass), was born to a family of Sunni Muslims in Tripoli in Northern Lebanon,[14][11] and a Palestinian-Jordanian[15] mother. She was a foreign editor for al-Hayat which is a Saudi-owned paper. She was the founder of the PR company International Communication Experts. This firm is part of a bigger firm that specializes in booking celebrities as well as publicity photos and promotion of events. (17) Amal is the youngest of three children including one sibling (Tala) as well as two half brothers who were part of her father's previous marriage. Amal attended Dr Challoner High School (a girls' grammar school situated in Little Chalfont Buckinghamshire) before she went to the university.
