Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on 22nd March 1976 was an American actress. Her many accolades include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She has also won two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine and Forbes both named her among the 100 most influential people on the world in both 2007 and 2015 and 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the most powerful actress in the world with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career as a teenager, making her screen debut with The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakout came in 1999 with a supporting role in Cruel Intentions as well as her role as Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) have earned her more attention. In 2005 she won praise from critics and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career during which her only box office hit was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen by producing and starring in Wild (2014). She got an additional Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. Witherspoon continues to work mostly in the field of television, and has been a part of and produced many adaptations of literary written by women under the name Hello Sunshine. These include Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020) which are all HBO drama series. The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the initial episode of these shows. She directed the adaptations to film of Gone Girl (2014) as in Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James clothing company and is involved in advocacy organizations for women and children. She is a member of the Children's Defense Fund's board and has been named Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007. In that capacity, she serves as chair honorary of Avon Foundation's charitable foundation devoted to women's issues.
